Forest Hills is one of the most prestigious and desired neighborhoods in Dallas. Located in East Dallas, there is just no other place like it. There are 600 plus homes, almost all on large lots around 100 x 150; many much larger. All homes are custom and totally diverse. Driving down these tree lined streets is truly like driving through a forest, with many trees being well over a century old.
The 640 acre tract of land, now the Forest Hills neighbor was selected in 1845 to be the homestead of Warrant Angus Ferris. In 1847 Ferris began to use the northwest corner of St. Francis and San Leandro as a cemetery. Only the Texas Historical Marker remains, but approximately 100 individuals were buried there including Ferris, his wife and several of his children.
Forest Hills has a very active Neighborhood Association with activities planned all year long. It is so easy to immerse oneself into the neighborhood activities right away, as they have new comer’s events regularly to welcome the new residents.
